A Google review request WhatsApp message sample works when it does four things in under 40 words: thanks the customer for one specific job, says the review takes a minute, pastes the direct review link, and asks nothing else. Here are 15 that do, in English and Bahasa Malaysia, grouped by the moment you send them. The position this page takes is about timing, not wording: the best review ask goes out the same day, inside the chat the customer already has open with you. Every template page we found says to wait a day or two "so the customer can settle in". For a service business on WhatsApp, waiting is the expensive choice. After 24 hours of silence the ask stops being a free reply and becomes a paid template, and the moment the customer was happiest has already passed.

Key Takeaway

This is a copy-paste library of 15 Google review request samples for WhatsApp, in English and Bahasa Malaysia, one for each moment a service business finishes something: a repair, a delivery, a clinic visit, a property handover, a class, a renovation. Every sample names the job, keeps the ask under 40 words, carries the direct review link, and goes to every customer the same way. Send it the same day while the 24-hour window is open, remind once at most, and never attach a reward to it.

The samples assume you already have a review link. If you do not, the Google Business Profile and WhatsApp guide shows where to copy it. If what you want is a rating or a short survey inside the chat rather than a public review, the customer feedback on WhatsApp guide is the page for that. This one is about the public five stars on Google.

If you only save two messages today, take one from the first row for your main service and the Bahasa Malaysia version of the same moment. Each one is under 40 words and asks for exactly one thing.

Why should you ask for a Google review inside 24 hours?

Ask for the review inside the same 24-hour window as the customer's last message, because that is when the ask is free and the customer is happiest. On the WhatsApp Business Platform, any message your team sends within 24 hours of a customer's message is a service message. Since 1 October 2026 each business number gets 1,000 of those free every month, and a reply after that costs about RM0.06 in Malaysia. Once the window closes you cannot type freely at all. You need an approved template, and a template that carries a Google link and a request to rate you will usually be classed as marketing, which costs about RM0.36 per message (360dialog rate notice; the full breakdown is in our WhatsApp service message pricing post).

the cost of asking for a review after the 24-hour window closes

Meta's own template rules make the point sharper. A feedback request tied to one specific transaction can be approved as a cheaper utility template, but "a general/generic survey or request for feedback will not be approved as utility", and anything with mixed or promotional content is marketing (Meta template categorization guidelines). You do not get to pick the category. Meta's classifier does, and it can recategorise a template later.

So the cheapest version of the ask is also the simplest: a free-form message, typed or automated, sent while the chat is still open. In practice that means the review ask is the last message of the job thread, not a separate campaign a week later.

The timing is also when the review is most likely to happen. BrightLocal found that 80% of consumers were asked by a local business to leave a review, and 65% of consumers left one when asked (BrightLocal Local Consumer Review Survey 2023). The people who did not were not refusing. They were asked at a moment when the job was no longer on their mind.

The free WhatsApp Business app has no window

If you reply from the free WhatsApp Business app on a phone, there is no 24-hour billing window and no template rule. The same-day advice still stands, for the other reason: the customer who just had the result is the one who writes the review.

Samples 1 to 6: after a service call or a delivery

These fire when the technician marks the job done or the courier scan says delivered. The job name is the personalisation. Nobody needs "we value your feedback".

Sample 1: Service call completed (EN)

Hi Mei Ling, thanks for having us fix the aircon in the master bedroom today. If everything is running cold, a quick Google review would help the next person find us. It takes a minute: [review link]. Thank you!

Sample 2: Service call completed (BM)

Hai Encik Farid, terima kasih kerana memilih kami untuk servis aircond hari ini. Kalau semuanya ok, boleh tinggalkan review Google untuk kami? Satu minit saja: [pautan review]. Terima kasih banyak!

Sample 3: Delivery confirmed (EN)

Hi Aaron, glad the standing desk reached you safely. If it is set up and you are happy with it, would you leave us a short Google review? Here is the link: [review link]. Much appreciated.

Sample 4: Delivery confirmed (BM)

Hai Puan Aisyah, syukur pesanan anda sudah selamat sampai. Kalau berpuas hati, boleh bantu kami dengan review ringkas di Google? Pautan di sini: [pautan review]. Terima kasih!

Sample 5: Repair collected from the shop (EN)

Hi Jason, thanks for collecting the laptop today. Now that it is back in use, a Google review from you would mean a lot to our small team: [review link]. Thanks for trusting us with it.

Sample 6: Repair collected from the shop (BM)

Hai Cik Nurul, terima kasih kerana ambil telefon anda tadi. Kalau sudah guna dan semuanya lancar, boleh tinggalkan review untuk kami di Google? [pautan review]. Terima kasih!

Notice what none of these do. They do not ask "how was it?" first and then decide who gets the link. They do not mention five stars. They do not offer anything. Those three habits are the ones Google's policy names, and we get to that below.

Samples 7 to 12: after a clinic visit, a handover or a class

Service businesses with a longer relationship get one extra rule: the ask marks a milestone, not a transaction. A dental patient does not remember "invoice 4471". They remember the day the crown went in.

Sample 7: Clinic visit (EN)

Hi Priya, thank you for visiting us this morning. If you were happy with how the team looked after you, a Google review would help other patients choose with confidence: [review link]. See you at your next visit.

Sample 8: Clinic visit (BM)

Hai Puan Siti, terima kasih kerana datang ke klinik kami pagi tadi. Kalau anda berpuas hati dengan layanan kami, boleh tinggalkan review di Google? [pautan review]. Jumpa lagi!

Keep clinic asks this plain. Do not name the treatment in the message, and never write it into a template that your whole team can see; the customer decides what goes public, not you.

Sample 9: Property keys handed over (EN)

Hi Mr Lim, congratulations again on collecting the keys to your unit at Setia Alam today. If I helped make the process smoother, a Google review would help the next buyer find me: [review link]. Thank you for the trust.

Sample 10: Property keys handed over (BM)

Hai Encik Razak, tahniah sekali lagi atas penyerahan kunci rumah anda hari ini! Kalau saya banyak membantu sepanjang proses ini, boleh tinggalkan review Google untuk saya? [pautan review]. Terima kasih atas kepercayaan anda.

Sample 11: Last session of a course or class (EN)

Hi Daniel, that was the last session of the Level 2 course. Thanks for sticking with it. If the classes were worth your Saturday mornings, a Google review would help other parents decide: [review link].

Sample 12: Renovation handover (BM)

Hai Puan Lee, terima kasih sekali lagi kerana memilih kami untuk ubah suai dapur anda. Sekarang semuanya siap, boleh kongsikan pengalaman anda di Google? [pautan review]. Kami hargai sangat.

The renovation and property asks are the ones with the biggest payoff per message, because the buyer's next decision is years away and the review is the only thing that keeps working in between. The referrals and reviews after the job post covers what to send on day 3 and day 30; this page stops at the review.

What are the two Google rules every template page buries?

Google's policy forbids two things most review-request guides quietly recommend: rewarding the review, and sending the ask only to the customers you expect to be happy. Google's own wording is that merchants may not "offer incentives, such as payment, discounts, free goods and/or services, in exchange for posting any review", and may not "discourage or prohibit negative reviews, or selectively solicit positive reviews from customers" (Google Maps user-contributed content policy). Reviews that break those rules are removed, and the page can be penalised.

That second rule is the one that catches well-meaning businesses. The popular "rate us 1 to 5 first, and only the 5s get the Google link" flow is exactly what Google calls selective solicitation. The same policy also bans asking staff to hit a review quota, telling customers what to write, and pressuring anyone to review while they are still on the premises. "Mention my name and give five stars" fails on two counts in one sentence.

Here is how the two rules change the samples:

Send the same ask to every customer whose job is done, in the same words. The filter is "job finished", never "customer seemed happy".
No voucher, no discount, no lucky draw, no "RM10 off your next visit" in the review message. Not even for a photo.
If a customer has already told you something went wrong, the next message is support, not a review ask. Fix it first. Once the job is actually done right, they get the same ask as everyone else.
Never write "five stars" or "positive review". Ask for a review and let the stars be theirs.
One reminder, three days later, then stop. A second reminder is pressure, and pressure is the thing the policy names.

The point about the unhappy customer is not a loophole around selective solicitation. It is sequencing. A review ask sent to someone who has an open complaint is not a request, it is an invitation to publish the complaint. Resolve it, and when the work is finished the ask goes out exactly as it does for everyone else. The negative reviews post covers what to do when the review arrives anyway.

Samples 13 to 15: the one reminder and the two asks you send by hand

Sample 13: Single reminder, 3 days later (EN)

Hi Mei Ling, just once more in case it got buried: if the aircon is still running well, here is the Google review link: [review link]. No worries at all if not. Thanks again!

Sample 14: Single reminder, 3 days later (BM)

Hai Encik Farid, sekadar peringatan sekali saja: kalau aircond masih sejuk dan anda berpuas hati, pautan review Google ada di sini: [pautan review]. Kalau tak sempat pun tak apa. Terima kasih!

Both reminders do something the first message does not: they give the customer permission to ignore it. "No worries at all if not" is what makes the second message a reminder rather than a chase. It is also the last one. If a customer does not review after two messages, they have answered.

Sample 15: Reply when the customer says thank you first (EN, send by hand)

That is really good to hear, thank you! If you have a minute, the same words on Google would help us more than you know: [review link]. And call me directly if anything comes up with the install.

Sample 15 is the highest-converting message on this page, and it cannot be automated. It only exists when the customer writes "thanks, great job" on their own. The team member who sees that message replies with it within the hour, while the window is open and the sentence is still warm. In a shared inbox this is the moment a manager should be watching for, which is a stronger reason for a shared inbox than any dashboard.

How do you set up Google review requests on WhatsApp?

How to Ask for a Google Review on WhatsApp in 5 Steps

Copy your review link. Search your business name on Google while signed in to the account that manages the profile, open the profile panel, tap "Ask for reviews", and copy the short link. Test it on your own phone: it should open straight to the star picker, not to your profile.
Pick one trigger per service. "Job marked done", "parcel delivered", "keys collected", "last session attended". The trigger is a fact in your system, not a feeling about the customer.
Write the ask with the job in it. Take the sample for that moment, replace the job description, keep it under 40 words, paste the link in the same message. Do an English and a Bahasa Malaysia version and send whichever language the customer wrote in.
Send it the same day, inside the open chat. If the customer messaged you today, the ask is a free service reply. If the thread has been quiet for more than 24 hours, it needs an approved template and costs about RM0.36, so plan the ask into the end of the job, not the week after.
Schedule one reminder for day 3 and stop. Set the reminder to send only if the customer has not replied. If they wrote back, even to say "later", do not send it.

Here is what that looks like running inside a sales platform rather than on one phone. A 6-person aircon servicing company in Shah Alam marks a job Completed in its CRM at 4pm. That evening the admin filters the CRM for jobs completed today, selects all, and sends Sample 1 as a campaign with the customer's name and job filled in per recipient. A follow-up sequence starts when the campaign is delivered: one step, three days later, marked "only if no reply", carrying Sample 13. A customer who replies "thanks" holds the reminder; a customer who stays silent gets it once. Raion HUB runs that exact pattern, with the delivered, read and replied counts beside each send so the admin can see which jobs produced a reply and which went quiet.

Challenge

Technicians were told to ask for reviews on site. Some asked, most forgot, and the ones who asked tended to pick the customers they liked.

Solution

The ask moved off the technician and onto the job status. Every completed job gets the same message at the end of the day, with one reminder on day 3 if the customer has not replied.

Results
Every customer gets asked, not just the friendly ones
The ask is a free service reply, not a paid template
Reviews name the technician without anyone being told to

Frequently Asked Questions

A good one is under 40 words, thanks the customer for one specific job, says the review takes a minute, includes the direct Google review link in the same message, and asks for nothing else. Example: "Hi Mei Ling, thanks for having us fix the aircon today. If everything is running cold, a quick Google review would help the next person find us. It takes a minute: [review link]. Thank you!"
The same day the job is finished, inside the chat the customer already has open with you. On the WhatsApp Business Platform a message sent within 24 hours of the customer's last message is a service message, free for the first 1,000 a month per number and about RM0.06 after that. After the window closes the ask needs an approved template and usually costs about RM0.36 as a marketing message.
No. Google's content policy says merchants may not offer incentives such as payment, discounts, free goods or services in exchange for posting any review. Reviews collected that way can be removed and the business profile can be penalised. Thank the customer in the message, and keep any reward separate from the review.
No. Google's policy prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews or discouraging negative ones. The "rate us first, only 5 stars get the link" flow is exactly that. Send the same ask to every customer whose job is done. If a customer has an open complaint, resolve it first, then they receive the same ask as everyone else.
Once. Send the ask on the day the job is done and one reminder about three days later, only if the customer has not replied. The reminder should give them an easy way to ignore it ("no worries at all if not"). A second reminder is pressure, and Google's policy specifically names pressuring customers for reviews.

Where do most review asks go wrong?

The ask is usually fine. The system around it is what fails, and it fails in the same three places.

It depends on a person remembering. When "ask for a review" is a line in the technician's job sheet, it happens on the days the technician is not rushing to the next site, which is not many. A review ask tied to the job status in the system happens every time, and it happens for the quiet customer as well as the chatty one.

It goes out as a blast. Monthly "we'd love your feedback" broadcasts to everyone in the contact list are the most expensive way to ask: every one is a marketing template, most recipients finished with you weeks ago, and the generic wording is the kind Meta will not approve as utility anyway. If you blast, blast new offers and news, the messages that bring something to the reader. The WhatsApp automation guide covers what belongs in a campaign and what belongs in a thread. The review ask belongs in the thread.

It asks for more than the review. "Leave a review and tag us on Instagram and forward this to a friend" gets none of the three. One message, one link, one request.

65%
of consumers left a review when a local business asked them to

Two out of three people say yes when asked properly. The businesses with thin review pages are usually not the ones with unhappy customers. They are the ones where nobody asked, or where the ask arrived a week late as a template nobody recognised.

The bottom line

Key Takeaway

A Google review request on WhatsApp works when it is sent the same day, inside the open chat, with the job named and the direct link in the same message, and when every finished customer gets it the same way. Keep it under 40 words, remind once on day 3 only if they have not replied, and never attach a reward or filter the ask by who you expect to be happy. Tie the ask to the job status in your system, not to a technician's memory, and the reviews arrive from the quiet customers too.
